How do i get my dog to follow thru with commands?

i have an 18mth old pittie "Dutchess" she knows the basic commands like sit go laydown or if i say oww she comes a runnin ready to protect, but i can get her to stay, she will follow the command given but 2 secs later she'll b right back how do i fix this?
