How to get a stuck DVD out of your Mac?

yesterday i put a DVD in my mac and when i put it in, it didnt show up on the computer that it was reading it. so then when i pressed the eject button, it sounded like the computer was trying to eject the DVD but it wouldn't come out. so i waited the next day to see it will work and now its not making any sound that it is trying to eject. i am freaking out now! i have tried EVERYTHING!! nothing seems to work! ): please help me!!
