Is energy f a photon(that can cause photoelectric effect) equal to the energy of a photoelectron ejected by it?

Well then this meansthat the work function (energy required by a metal to eject electron) is zero which is practically impossible. Every metal requires some energy to eject electrons else they wudemmit electrons continuasly. energy of photon=work function of metal + kinetic energy of electron
