Whats wrong with my PS3?

my brother put in mw2 and it didn't come up under the games menu and the blue indicator light didn't come on and he came and told me about it and i though he was lying because the blue light that tells you there is a game in wasnt on. i presses the eject button several times and it beeped but nothing came out, so i put in a different disk and it went in perfectly fine but it didnt do anything else. the game didnt appear under the game menu and the blue light didnt come on. i pressed eject several times and nothing happened. i turned it on and then off and tried again but nothing happened.. is the laser that reads the disk broken? also why did it allow 2 discs to be put into it??(and it still was accepting more, i put a disk halfway in and it tried to suck that in too!) do I need to send it to Sony or take it to Gamestop to be fixed or can I easily solve this?
